Transitition to Atomicorp.com
Written by scott
Tuesday, 02 March 2010

As of today we've finished transitioning the "command and control" of all things atomic to the atomicorp.com site. This includes the forums, downloads, wiki , and blogs .  The archive news has a new link from the Atomicorp website and we're planning on expanding this to include RSS feeds, comments, and  much more.

When I registered the "atomicrocketturtle" domain in 2001 it was a test (and maybe a joke!) for the my.plesk.com service,  later in 2002/2003 it evolved into "Plesk Labs" where I would prototype bizzare things like "Virtual Server Administrator ",  an ill fated attempt to hack horde into something to compete with Microsoft Exhange... and a little dependency to support that project in the form of rpm based PHP updates for plesk.  The Atomic RPM repo was born, and that little dependency project grew and grew until it supported hundreds of packages for (on average) 50,000 unique IP's every day.  Crazy huh, and thats just what is countable from our logs. I have no idea what the private mirrors do

ART will still be sticking around as my personal blog for all the other things I do not RPM related;  I live in a treehouse  that likes to attract other trees , I make wine, and I have a 1970 Olds 442 rotting in my garage.

Now if only I would actually talk about this stuff.... :P

[asl-2.0-testing] Kernel 2.6.32.8
Written by scott
Tuesday, 16 February 2010

The latest ASL kernel version 2.6.32.8 is now available in the testing channel. This is the first release to include support for the dazuko clamav module from the ground up, which allows for performing clamav scanning on files when they are added or changed on the file system. This is a drastic performance increase over scheduled scanning, as well as adding a real time prevention capability to the system.

Changelog:
* Dazuko support (kmod-dazuko)
* i586 kernel packages have been deprecated, there are now only kernel.x86_64 and kernel-PAE
* kernel updated to 2.6.32.8

To upgrade (x86_64):
yum --enablerepo=asl-2.0-testing upgrade kernel

To upgrade (i386):
yum --enablerepo=asl-2.0-testing upgrade kernel-PAE

[asl-2.0] mod_security 2.5.12-3
Written by scott
Wednesday, 10 February 2010

Changelog:
* Fixed SecUploadFileMode to set the correct mode.
* Fixed nolog,auditlog/noauditlog/nolog controls for disruptive actions.
* Added additional file info definitions introduced in APR 0.9.5 so that build will work with older APRs (IBM HTTP Server v6).
* Added SecUploadFileLimit to limit the number of uploaded file parts that will be processed in a multipart POST. The default is 100.
* Fixed path normalization to better handle backreferences that extend above root directories. Reported by Sogeti/ESEC R&D.
* Trim whitespace around phrases used with @pmFromFile and allow for both LF and CRLF terminated lines.
* Allow for more robust parsing for multipart header folding. Reported by Sogeti/ESEC R&D.
* Fixed failure to match internally set TX variables with regex (TX:/.../) syntax.
* Fixed failure to log full internal TX variable names and populate MATCHED_VAR* vars.
* Enabled PCRE "studying" by default. This is now a configure-time option.
* Added PCRE match limits (SecPcreMatchLimit/SecPcreMatchLimitRecursion) to aide in REDoS type attacks. A rule that goes over the limits will set TX:MSC_PCRE_LIMITS_EXCEEDED. It is intended that the next major release of ModSecurity (2.6.x) will move these flags to a dedicated collection.
* Reduced default PCRE match limits reducing impact of REDoS on poorly written regex rules. Reported by Sogeti/ESEC R&D.
* Fixed memory leak in v1 cookie parser. Reported by Sogeti/ESEC R&D.
* Now support macro expansion in numeric operators (@eq, @ge, @lt, etc.)
* Update copyright to 2010.
* Reserved 700,000-799,999 IDs for Ivan Ristic.
* Fixed SecAction not working when CONNECT request method is used (MODSEC-110). [Ivan Ristic]
* Do not escape quotes in macro resolution and only escape NUL in setenv values.

To upgrade:
yum upgrade mod_security
